Sirens of the Sea

I finished Just Nan's "Sirens of the Sea" last night. I have been away from my blog for awhile.

Alot of stuff has happen here lately. I moved back to Anchorage, Alaska and I'm back working up here on the same project. Hopefully, this time it will be longer than last time.

I have been busy also learning how to Quilt. I finished my first Quilt a few weeks ago. Now,

am addicted to quilting. I have been to every quilt store in Anchorage and Eagle River. I'm meeting with a lady on Saturday to do my quilting on my second quilt that I finished.

It is really fun to learn something new. I have a small wall hanging that I'm going to do this weekend so I can learn how to applique.

I have some more progress on Athena. My goal is to finish by June 15th. June 15th is when the Mirabilia RR starts off. If I can't finish her by then I will work on her when I can.

New Orleans Jazz Festival

I'm off to the New Orleans Jazz Festival this weekend, with my best friend, niece and DBF.
Also tomorrow we have friend coming to met us.
The Jazz Festival is this huge event with different singer from all kinds of music.
We are going to see Bonnie Raitt, Sugarland and many more today. Tomorrow we are seeing Dr. John and Bon Jovi (my favorite). I hope to bring back lots of pictures and I'm sure we will have so much FUN!!!!

New Baby has arrive!

I have a new Great Nephew. He weighs a whopping 9lbs 11 ozs and his name is Emil Joseph.
He is beautiful. My niece said it was a piece of cake delivering him, but she couldn't get over how big he is. He will be welcome by his big brother Dalton Vance. Dalton didn't want to leave the hospital last night, he wanted to stay with his new baby brother. Dalton is so cute with him.
I think they will be able to come home today sometime. This makes 4 grandchildren for my Sister, 2 boys and 2 girls, she is so excited. I need to find something to stitch about grandchildren. Well thats it for now!

WIP- Athena

Here is my progress so far on Athena, I started back on her Easter weekend. She is looking good so far. I'm really enjoying stitching her. As you can see, I have done the stitchingon the left side, a little backstitching and no beading as of yet. She is being stitch on SW Desert Sky 32 count.

Hey Everyone! I'm Back

Well I'm back in Louisiana. Actually I have been back a couple of weeks now, but it has been crazy trying to get things organized and settle. I have been depressed some, I have never been without a job and money is running out. My umemployment is not being process yet, boy what a pain. Well after a dealing with that and trying to get everything moved back and getting the house clean, I finally can sit down and start stitching again. I'm working on Bentcreek's Snapperbits and I'm almost finished.

Well, it's time to go. The project I was working on got put on hold so we all got laid off, bummer.
Back to Louisiana I go and collect unemployment. I've never had to collect unemployment, this will be new. I'm depressed and SAD, I really like the work I was doing up here. Hopefully something will come up soon and I can get back to work.
I haven't been stitching to much lately cause I have been really busy at work. But now I will have plenty of time to stitch. Look for pictures in the near future. I started Athena back in September of last year so now I can get back to her and a lots more UFO's.
I will keep in touch.

Here she is finally finished. The fabric is 32 ct. SMF Opal. Bewitched. The camera doesn't do her justice she is beautiful. It took a while for me to finish with the move and getting adjusted to the time change.

It Snow!

Well, it snow about 3" yesterday and last night. I woke up to plenty of snow.
It's so pretty, like winter wonderland. All the evergreen trees with snow on them.
You just want to put Christmas lights on everyone and presents under them.
I'm already in the Christmas mood and Thanksgiving hasn't come yet.

On the stitching front.....I'm really trying to finish TOTF, put the beads on her. I just can't stay up pass 7:00 pm. I'm still trying to get used to the time it is frustrating. Pictures will come

I'm in Alaska

Hey everyone, I have been in Alaska now for three weeks. It is totally different then Louisiana, but I am enjoying it. I came up here to work. I'm in the Engineering field and I had an opportunity to make some more money, and also to grow in my field. I think it will turn out to be a very good experience. The time change is still got me messed up. Alaska is 3 hours behind Louisiana and they also change their clocks like Louisiana does. So....the dog and I are going to bed at like 7:00 pm. Here are a couple of pictures that I took, one is in the airplane coming over and the other is just a snap shot I took of the mountains.

I have been stitching on my TOTF and I hope to be finished this weekend. I have made a trip to the LNS and met the owner, she is very nice. They have so Alaskan charts that I will probably get. They also have a stitching night tonight I might go if I can stay up to get there.

Athena has arrived

I got Athena last night at my LNS. She is kitted up and I'm ready to stitch. I started her last night got her on my scroll bars and started at the center. I'm so excited about this piece, she is so beautiful. I will get progress picture in the near future.

We are living among the trees....

Well Hurricane Gustav hit landfall last week. Ruining the Labor Day weekend because we had to prepare for the storm. It took some trees down in the front yard and the back yard. Limbs are everywhere alot of damage in the Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. Part of the back wall on Mike's shop is down, it can be repaired it's just going to take awhile.
We were out of power until 9:00 pm Wednesday. My daughter didn't get her power back until Sunday morning. There are friends of mine still without power and have been told it would probably be 3 more weeks. Mike's mom is still without power, everyone around has it but her they are telling her probably Wednesday. We had a generator and I was able to cross-stitch thru the storm and after that was nice. It keep me in check, not stressed out as much. If I didn't have that to calm me down I would have gone insane. Now we are watching Hurricane Ike and praying that it doesn't come this way. This morning all the computer models have it going towards Texas and Mexico. Keep it away from us. I don't wish any harm on anyone but I'm so sick of rain and no electricity. For 2 solid months that is what we have been experiencing around here. First Fay than Gustav. Go away please.....it depressing.
Well on the stitching front, I finished the 4 new Lizzie Kate Flip-its, I started Barbara Ana Autumn biscornu and Shepard's Bush She Tends. I heard from my LNS that Athena came in so I will be getting her today, I'm so excited. It is brighten up my day.

It has been a long time since I have posted. The last several months I have been busy moving and moving my daughter in her apartment, It's been crazy.
I moved in with my boyfriend in July. We are getting married next year, I don't have a date yet.
My daughter moved into her own apartment and going to school. We have five Cocker Spaniels,
she took 2 of them and I took 3. We are settling in now and it has been a big adjustment for me
because I have been single for so long. You get set in your ways. I like things one way and he does the opposite. It has been alot of compromising. Why do men like to leave their dirty clothes all over the floor when there is a dirty clothes hamper in the bathroom? Little things like this drive me crazy, but I'm trying to adjust. He is trying to adjust to the dogs, so I'm trying not to say anything. OH WELL!!!!

On to stitching......I have been stitching alot. 2008 projects have included The Mirabilia Reindeer, I have finished Country Cottage "Joy", Nora Corbett's letter "A". I have finished all of the LE Fairies of Mirabilia. I have finished a Barbara Ana "Hallowscornu". I have alot of WIPS going: Victoria Sampler 12 days of christmas(which was a cyberclass), Lizze Kate's Christmas Double Flip ups, Bent Creek's Snapperbits. I have also been doing the mothly series of JAB Teapot Series. I'm up to May on that one.
I got a Utimate Stitching stand from K's Creation for my birthday that was a treat from myself.
I got it put together but have not used it yet....hope to be using it for this weekend.

It looks like we will be having a Hurricane next week sometimes and I guess we will be preparing this weekend. Picking up and securing things around the house. I have to make room in the garage to put my car in there. We also have the start of the football season this Saturday and I want to put a Shout out for the one and only LSU Tigersssssssss......Geaux Tigers.

I hope to have some pictures soon on all my stitching finishes soon....I will update then.

What A Wonderful Retreat

Well, I went on a retreat this weekend and it was Great! I met so many new friends that I will treasure always. Kathy with "Needle Delights" did such a great job. Of course she had a lot of help. Thanks for all the love and kindess. I learned how to make a biscournu and we also got a retreat scrissor case project. I also took a haranger class it was good. Thanks Pam for teaching us.

I had a great time with my friend Marjean. Marjean won 1st prize at the exhibit, Pam won 2nd and I took 3rd. I also won the first door prize and I picked the fabric. I also won a beautiful scrissor fob, a pink butterfly. I bought alot of Milady's needle stuff and also a needle organizer(sp)out of the boutique. All and all I had a great weekend and ready for next year.

Well, I had a little time to write a few lines.

I've been stitching alot........working on the Cross-Eyed Cricket Halloween Ornaments.

I got 5 done and I working on finishing them to put on my Tree. Pictures coming soon.

I started Mira Halloween Fairy for the contest on the Mirabilia Board. I have also been working on Cross-Eyed Cricket Acorns. I have 2 of those left to do.

I'm heading out of town this weekend, to enjoy some R&R. I will be taking my stitching with me. I got a big pay increase at work and I'm totally excited about that. I will be paying off some major debt. I have a two year plan, to pay all my debt off. So, I will not be buying alot of cross-stitch stuff in the near future. I have plenty of stash to keep me busy for years to come.

If I need thread and fabric I will get that, but no new charts.

I also got a trip plan at the end of the month to go to the beach. That should be fun!!!!!

Well it is time to get back to work.

We are finally none. It took my daughter, Lindsey and myself 3 days to complete this finish. Don't believe what you read sometimes, the foam glue direction said Quick Dry, it took 3 days to dry. At least they are finally finished. My first finishing job,

it didn't turn out bad. I'm a very impatience person, I like my stuff finished fast. That is why I always have someone else no the finishing on it. I can't sew and I learned how to LACE the linen around the cardboard, so now I feel like I can do the Cross-Eyed Cricket Acorn next. I like to say a big THANKS to my Daughter Lindsey and my Friends(you know who you are) that encourage me to do the finishing my self.

Now back to Mirabilia "Petal Fairy", hope to have her finished this weekend. It is going to be a long weekend with Labor Day. At least get the stitching done and then I will only have the beading.

I need some prayers

I woke up this morning and my dog Danni eyes were swollen and bugging-out!
My daughter is with her right now at the Vet's and I'm waiting on news.

It has been crazy lately! I have been fighting a tooth for a month now. I finally got that fixed Monday with a root canal.

Well, I just got news.......she is having an allergric reaction to some thing. But the Vet gave her
a shot and some medicine to take. My daughter is taking her home and staying with her today.

On a stitching front......I finished my Cross-Eyed Cricket Flip Flops, Sherphard's Bush Be Attitudes and I'm 1/2 finished with Mirabilia's Petal Fairy.

The Color White

Do you ever wait to do your white thread last? I do.......it never fails the white thread will be the last thing I stitch. I don't know why, my brain just says I will do that last.
Well......last night I did it again. The second flip flop in the Cross-eyed Cricket series has alot of white in it and that is the only thing I have left to do on the piece, so I guess I will finish it today.
I just found that strange that I save the white thread LAST!!!!!

I'm Getting There

Well, I have added some more thing to my blog. It's lunch time and I had some time to look at my blog again. I'm learning a few things. My friend is going to help me this weekend with adding my pictures of my stitching and few other things I need to learn.

So far this month I have finished Catherine Agnes, by Catherine(somebody I forgot), "Forest Snowfall", by Little House Needleworks. I have started Cross-eyed Cricket Flip Flops.....I'm on the second one.

Also, I started the Audobon Zoo Express, this is for my Great Nephew who is soooo cute.

It is a piece that comes from the New Orleans area. It's a Streetcar with Zoo animals hanging out the windows and they're heading for the Audobon Zoo. It's a really cute piece. I change the threads to over-dyed instead of DMC.
Also, I am rotating Village of Hawks Run and Swan Sampler.
